DB transfer set to continue in 2018

Sir Steve Webb, the former pensions minister, who now works as director of policy at Royal London, sees no sign of DB transfers abating in 2018.  The recent interest rate rise has led some commentators to speculate that transfer values may be set to reduce, owing to scheme liabilities falling.  However, with interest rates unlike to rise significantly in the year ahead, many are now predicting that the impact on transfers in 2018 is likely to be minimal.  We remain open minded on the matter but do think we may have seen the peak in transfer values at the end of last year.  To be on the safe side however, we would recommend that anyone considering a DB transfer investigate the option sooner rather than later.
